Plockton

Shhh, don't tell anyone - Plockton isn't on the Isle of Skye... but it isn't far from the Skye Bridge, and the village certainly gets visited by a lot of the people who also visit Skye. I happened to be in Plockton the other day at a time when the stormy winter clouds briefly parted and gave us one of those special winter sunshine moments...

Trees on Skye

As in much of the Highlands, we have our pine, spruce and larch plantations on Skye, but we have some woodland too. Also, trees have often been planted on crofts to provide some protection from the wind. Even on the open moorland, a gorge or hillside can provide enough shelter to allow tough little trees to become established.
